We're once again offering a FREE conference for Virginia Government Communicators members, packed with opportunities to network and learn from fellow government public relations professionals! Join us on Tuesday, January 27.

9 a.m. -- Arrivals, breakfast, networking

10 a.m. -- Odetta Johnson from the Richmond Police Department will talk about the Nextdoor websites and how police arranged to be able to post in each neighborhood; and reaching out to alternative lifestyle communities.

11 a.m. -- Jason Snook from CapTech on the Virginia government website overhaul and redesign

12 p.m. -- Lunch on site. We're looking for a comfort food menu for a chilly January day.

1 p.m. -- FOIA with Alan Gernhardt of the FOIA Council to answer all your questions and help you organize your FOIA routine to maximum efficiency.

2 p.m. -- Jeb Hockman, director of Marketing and Communications for the Virginia War Memorial will talk about special event communications and the evolution of the war memorial, which has grown from being a statue to being a complex that hosts a variety of events and conferences. He will also describe the particular points of interest if any members would like to remain for a self-guided tour of the museum and complex.

Bring your cameras, as there are some great scenic views of the James River and Richmond skyline from this location. And if you have high school children thinking about applying to VCU, the academic campus is two blocks northwest and they can spend the day exploring the area.
