Our summer conference returns to Northern Virginia!  We're got an outstanding lineup of presenters, including:

• Jeffrey Levy, Web Communications Director for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Jeffrey will share with us some of the EPA's online strategies and tactics, as well as general guidance for embracing social media and how "old" communications can be integrated with "new" communications.

• Lee Rainie, Director, Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, a non-profit, non-partisan "fact tank" that studies the social impact of the Internet. The Project has issued more than 350 reports based on its surveys that examine people's online activities and the Internet's role in their lives. Lee is a world renown treasure trove of online data/trends and he will share with us Pew's latest research about the Internet, social media, mobile, gaming and other topics that affect us as government communicators.

• Lt. Craig Luecke, Vice President of Marketing, Communications and IT for Fairfax 2015. Did you know the world is coming to Fairfax and Virginia in three years? The 2015 World Police and Fire Games will be hosted by Fairfax County. The games are the second largest sporting event in the world after the Olympics. Previous host cities/countries have included Barcelona, Vancouver, New York, Northern Ireland and Australia. Public safety athletes from 70 countries will participate in 69 events in and around Fairfax County. Craig will share with us some of the marketing, media, social media, event planning and logistics of the games so far and how planning for the world is an interesting assignment!

• Maria Everett, Executive Director of the Virginia Freedom of Information Advisory Council, will discuss FOIA in a new era of social media, texting and other new tools.

As always at our conferences, food will be provided (lunch and a light breakfast). WiFi is not available. Please bring wireless cards or 3G devices if you require internet connection.

More conference details will be announced as they become finalized, but if you have questions, email Greg Licamele at the address above. We hope you can join us.
